1 Kings 10 reveals Solomon's enormous wealth. His annual revenue of gold was about 25 tons (666 talents), not counting what he received through trading and taxation (vv. 14-15). He had shields forged out of gold and placed in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon (vv. 16-17). Solomon's palace was filled with ornate and expensive items (vv. 18-21). He maintained a fleet of trading ships which brought riches and exotic items from distant lands (v. 22), and amassed 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horses (v. 26; 2 Chron. 1:14). Verse 23 sums up Solomon's wealth: "King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth."
